It's Out

Ice Age Life is on the App Store.

I submitted on Saturday and spent four days refreshing a status page. This morning it flipped to approved, and just like that the thing was real and out in the world.

I’ve started this sentence a few times and it still doesn’t feel real. For most of the last year this was sketches, then systems, then an ugly scaffold I rebuilt three times. Now it’s an app. You can search for it, download it, and live a life in it. That gap — from the thing in my head to the thing in your hand — is the one I spent the longest being afraid of.

It shipped the way I wanted it to: free. No ads, no purchases, nothing to upsell you. Just the game. That mattered to me more than any monetization plan I sketched along the way. If you’re going to spend hours with these people — naming them, watching them grow old, losing the ones you couldn’t save — the last thing I want is a paywall standing in the room.

It’s not finished. Games like this are never really finished. But it’s out, it’s whole, and it’s honest to what I set out to make.

One world. Built slowly. And now, finally, shared.
