Untwine
A to-do app for the tasks you keep not doing. Most of them are not complicated. They are hard to face — and that is a different problem.

Two minutes long, and still terrifying.
Most to-do apps assume that if something is not done, you forgot, or you planned badly. Untwine starts somewhere else: some tasks sit there for months because they evoke fear, shame, uncertainty or grief — not because you do not know what to do about them.
So how hard something feels is a real property of a task here, sitting beside priority and effort rather than being inferred from them. A task can be tiny and frightening. That gap is the whole point, and it is the thing an ordinary list cannot show you.
The rest of the time it stays out of the way. It is a perfectly ordinary task manager, and buying milk never gets asked how it feels.
Small enough to actually start.
Finishing is not the only good ending.
An ordinary task app, first
Today, Upcoming, Inbox and projects. Due dates, reminders, subtasks, repeats. Buying milk never gets asked how it feels — ordinary capture is never interrupted with a question about your feelings.
How hard, kept separate from how big
Effort and difficulty are different questions, so they are different fields. Difficulty shows as weather — clear sky through to a storm — never as a red warning, because finding something hard is information, not an error.
Three things you could actually do
Tap what is hard and the app offers small, concrete actions. Take one and it lands on the task as a step you can reword. It offers actions rather than telling you what you feel — a guess about a person's inner life can be wrong in a way “open it, then close it again” cannot.
Stopping is a real answer
Putting something down until a time you choose, or deciding it is not yours to carry, are offered with exactly the same weight as doing it. Setting a task aside is reversible and is never recorded as a failure.
Thirty-one things to try
Grounding, movement, basic needs, getting it out of your head. Short instructions, a timer where a timer makes sense, and honest notes on what the evidence does and does not say.
No streaks. Nothing graded.
Nothing in the app tells you that you are falling behind. A missed repeating task leaves no residue — no overdue pile, no count of how many you missed.
No account. Nowhere for it to go.
Everything stays on your device. Sync is your own private iCloud database, off until you are asked and say yes — and it is between you and Apple, never us. There is no analytics and no server here at all. Export the lot as JSON or Markdown whenever you like.
Untwine is a task app with a reflection tool attached. It offers general wellbeing prompts and low-risk things to try. It is not medical care, therapy, diagnosis, or crisis support, and it never claims to be. If you are struggling, please talk to someone who can actually help.
